Pick No. 1

Pick No. 1

I am extremely pleased with the images I shot in Texas during the break, to say the least. It’s been one of my most fruitful photographic “trips” ever. I finally developed all 14 or so B&W rolls this past weekend, but these color images were the first I saw. I only shot a single roll of color, as I waited for my B&W film to arrive from B&H, and it’s times like these that I almost question why I shoot B&W at times.

This is my brother, Ryan, and he’s sitting in the boys’ locker room where we both went to junior high. He’s now in training to be a coach, after graduating college this past December. Maybe I love this image because it’s my brother, but I can’t help but think it’s just good.

The kids call him “Coach Pick”

Soooo good Walker, brother or not. I love the way he’s looking off frame and how ‘CUBS’ is repeated above him.

Seriously, this is probably the best shot I’ve seen all year.

What an awesome portrait. Many of my friends have also returned to their former schools as teachers and coaches, must say something about our generation although I’m not sure what.

This is a wonderful shot, Walker. It leans toward comercial work, love it!

Nope, not just cause he is your brother, its awsome. Love the way he is so isolated from the background, but still that the background is relevant in that it completes the story.

This is simply great. I don’t know about that ventilation system or what it can be in the top of the frame though.

Nope, this is a fabulous photo! What kind of film did you use? What kind of lighting as well, since it’s beautiful and vibrant?

Beautiful portrait. the DOF is great, the Cubs on the shirt matched with the Cubs on the wall extremely well placed. This is a classic.

There is something I like particularly in the film photography: a certain transparency in the picture. I mean it is as if we could forget the camera to concentrate only on the colors and the compo.
