Tree Ladder

Tree Ladder

I’ve been catching up on my film developing lately, since I may not have a home darkroom for much longer. This includes two suspect rolls of 120 Tri-X 400 that have been sitting in my darkroom for months. I shot them when it was hot, so it must’ve been last summer. And they’re both rolls from the Town Lake series I was working on. There were a number of factors that contributed to my abandonment of the series. But I must admit it was nice to see these images after all this time had passed.

And in case you were wondering, the rest of the series can be fairly easily accessed via the Holga 120S Archives.

Yes I was looking through your images the other day and really loved this one: http://www.beyondmonochrome.org/archives/2005/08/town_lake_rope_swing.php . I’d love to see what else comes from these films.

Wow, great! Roots on the ground look pretty interesting, almost like a sculptural relief. One thing I’ve noticed with Holga series is the amount of vignetting that differs from picture to picture. Does that have something to do with the available light in addition to the notorious lens?

    Thanks guys.

The vignetting does vary from shot to shot, and I’m sure it has to do with how much light is passing through the lens, as well as the brightness of the object in that particular part of the frame. For instance, the lower right hand corner here is pretty bright, which all but eliminates the vignetted there, but the top corners retain it more because of the darker subject.
