Triptych Part 1

Triptych Part 1

What do you get when you mix three creative individuals with a background in photography, a bad (free) box of Polaroid 59, studio lights and nothing to do? Well, we’ll start with this self-portrait. There are two other parts to the triptych, but I hadn’t had time to edit them before we left for Dallas for Christmas. Hopefully I’ll get them all up before long. Merry Christmas!

Fascinating, great textures. Almost reminds me of some of your musician portraits.

Thanks Miles. I’m actually trying to get back into shooting that for that series. And working with the Polaroid 55 and 59 lately has given me a little inspiration.

I like how you’ve arranged your previous exposures in front of you.

Sorry we couldn’t get together W… We were just WAY too planned out with family crap. There was just no way…

I’m shooting a lot of 55 while I’m down here. Polaroid’s quality control has me cursing. Every 4 or 5 exposures are messed up for some reason (not user error either).

How much longer will you be in Texas, John? My wife and I drove through Hico on our way back to Austin (took the scenic route) and it seemed like a pretty neat little place. I might have the urge to drive up there on Thursday or Friday, maybe.

As for the 55, check the bottom center of the negs. Are you getting a “V”? If so, I’ve recently heard that those were part of a bad batch, and that Polaroid will send you a fresh new box to replace it. Nothing confirmed, though.
